The Town Council offers grants for three areas of activity: community projects, environmental improvements and events. Each is a small grant scheme, with sums awarded being usually less than £1000, although the Council is happy to consider making a contribution towards the overall cost of larger projects.
Projects requesting grants should be primarily for the benefit of the people of Berwick, Tweedmouth and Spittal.
Community Projects and Environmental Improvements
The Town Council can provide grants to encourage and help organisations delivering schemes to help improve the communities and environment.
Examples include paying for Berwick's entry into Northumbria-in-Bloom, meeting the costs of shrubs for planting at Berwick Railway Station, helping with the costs of restoring the Tweedmouth War memorial.
The Town Council can also provide small grants to organisations arranging events in the Council's area.
Examples of this include assisting a local group with the costs of publicising their pantomime, supporting the Spittal Gala, and support for a local music festival.
